P2P.ie Review: The Tom Keating-trained Who’s In The Box got off the mark at the fifth time of asking when taking the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bartlemy. The son of Witness Box was certainly not winning out of turn here having filled the runner-up berth at Turtulla on his penultimate start. Ridden once again by Liz Lalor, the bay was never too far away from the pace before finding plenty for pressure in the closing stages to win by three lengths. This likable sort is out of a point-to-point winning dam and should be well capable of adding to his tally under rules.
Winner 5yo Geldings Maiden at Necarne on 10.5.19 by 5 lengths
3rd in 5yo Geldings Maiden at Necarne on 10.5.19
Placed second in a N.H. Flat race at Sedgefield only beaten 3/4L by the winner with 5 lengths back to the third placed horse. 14/5/2019
P2P.ie Review: Fort Summer has had three starts to date for handler Warren Ewing. The son of Kalanisi showed plenty of promise when third on his debut at Ballycahane in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden under Derek O'Connor. Jumping well throughout, the gelding held the advantage before tiring on the run to the penultimate obstacle in testing conditions. This €12,500 foal subsequently finished fifth on his following start in a competitive race at Liscarroll and fell last time out at Taylorstown in the hands of P A King. Out of an unraced dam who is a half-sister to a two-time winner under rules, Fort Summer is yet to show his best and could be an interesting sort in for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: The Daniel Murphy-trained Velkera made a taking debut to score in the five-and-six-year-old mares’ maiden at Dromahane under Shane Baragry. The newcomer was closed from two-out before taking up the mantle after the last to win by a length-and-a-half, going away at the line. Owned by Jeff Murphy, this daughter of Sholokhov deserves credit for getting the better of some more experienced opponents in good fashion. This is a racy looking five-year-old who should improve again for this run and could well develop into a very nice prospect for new connections going forward.
P2P.ie Review: Graham McKeever's Fourtout made an encouraging debut at Lingstown back in March when placed in a strong maiden, before unseating at Portrush next-time out. On his third start, the son of Honolulu ran well to finish third at Fairyhouse having missed the break at the beginning of the strongly run contest. Facing an uphill battle from there, the gelding was towards the rear for much of the contest before making relentless ground in the last mile, finishing his race in eye catching fashion to finish third. Purchased for €8,000 as a store at Arqana, this French-bred may well develop into likeable sort under rules for his new connections in the future.
P2P.ie Review: The Michael Winters-trained Osca Loca has now won three races on the trot in the hands of Chris O'Donovan. The daughter of Oscar got off the mark in her second point start at Belharbour in the five-year-old and upwards mares’ maiden before following up that success when taking a winners’ race at Knockanard. Her third success came when taking the mares’ maiden hunters chase at Cork by a comprehensive 13 lengths denying the more experienced Trumps Ace. Closely related to four-time winner Red Devil Boys and five-time winner Clondaw Castle this mare looks set to enjoy plenty more success under rules moving forward.
P2P.ie Review: Mary Doyle's Lotto Numbers recently ran a promising race when third in the five-year-old geldings’ at Monksgrange on his second start of the season. Having made his debut in a highly competitive race at Lingstown, the son of Milan showed plenty of improvement on his second start when beaten just five lengths at the Rathnure venue. Out of a five-time winner, the gelding held every chance going into the last half-a-mile before keeping on well in the closing stages. This is clearly an improving sort who may well continue to develop into a progressive sort on the track in future.
P2P.ie Review: The Cormac Farrell-trained Top Man got off the mark at the third time of asking when taking the five-year-old and upwards’ maiden at Fairyhouse at the end of April. The son of Milan was given a positive ride in the hands of Shane Fitzgerald and quickened clear of the field to secure a comfortable six-length victory. It is worth noting that the nature of the €38,000 stores success indicates that he may well have gone close in the standard five-year-old maiden in any case. Out of a three-time winner under rules this Richard Irwin-owned gelding could well continue improving and develop into a useful sort in between the rails in future.
P2P.ie Review: Methodtothemagic has shaped with plenty of promise on her three starts to date for Mary Doyle this season. The daughter of Sans Frontieres made a pleasing debut when third on her debut at Ballyarthur, before being beaten a similar distance on her next start in a very competitive mares’ maiden at Monksgrange. The bay improved again to finish a staying on third on her last in a 13-runner maiden around Dromahane under Barry Stone. Having been given a patient ride, the four-year-old was doing her best work late in the day here getting to within four and a quarter lengths of the winner, while it is worth noting that the second placed mare subsequently sold for €220,000. Going forward this likable type is unlikely to remain a maiden for long.
P2P.ie Review: The Mic Winters – trained Blarney Bateleur ran out a comprehensive winner of a competitive 17-runner mares’ on her debut at Inch in mid-April. Having picked up the running at the half-way point, the daughter of Flemensfirth steadily increased the pace and had many of her rivals in trouble turning into the home straight the final time. From this point the six-year-old stayed on gamely to the line, ultimately winning by a comprehensive four lengths. This imposing bay should be well capable of tasting further success in the future.
UK P2P Review: A Goffs Land Rover Store Sale graduate, he raced twice in the spring of 2018, shaping with promise in Irish point-to-points for Colin Bowe’s stable by finishing fourth on debut at Taylorstown and then runner-up a few weeks later at Necarne. Switched to the UK and Philip Rowley’s stable he soon built on those good early efforts with two quick wins. Initially he beat a very well-bred mare at Chaddesley Corbett – she won next time out – and he then headed a consistent mare at Brampton Bryan in a good time. The pair pulled 30 lengths clear of the third. He is the third winner for his dam, who herself won over hurdles.
P2P.ie Review: Ask a Honey Bee is a consistent sort who made his fourth start a winning one when taking the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Ballynoe for Roger McGrath. Having improved with every start, the son of Ask was certainly not winning out of turn here under Declan Queally. Having been given a positive ride, the good-looking bay jumped and travelled strongly throughout, before battling on gamely to win by almost two lengths. From a family of winners, this likable sort is sure to taste track success for new connections in the future.
P2P.ie Review: Black Gerry made a very promising debut when second on his only start to date in a four-year-old maiden in mid- April. Trained by Donnchadh Doyle, the son of Westerner caught the eye in the paddock beforehand and subsequently travelled and jumped in professional fashion under Shane Roche. Having made relentless headway inside the final mile, the debutant picked up the running after two-out only to be overhauled in the dying strides. However this promising sort lost little in defeat here and can surely develop into a decent type under rules for new connections.
UK P2P Review: Making a most favourable impression this gelding spread-eagled a 13-runner field in a point-to-point bumper at Hereford Racecourse last month. The first three horses have been unraced since, but the fourth, who was nearly eight lengths adrift of the winner, has since hacked up by a wide margin in a nine-runner maiden point-to-point. This horse has the power and size for Jump racing, and his dam was a winner over fences at two miles and two and a half miles, and also Listed-placed in that sphere. The family’s roots lie in an Aga Khan family which features the Classic winner and top-class sire Doyoun.
P2P.ie Review: Dancewiththewind got off the mark at the second time of asking when taking the second division of the four-year-old maiden at Taylorstown by a comprehensive nine lengths under James Walsh. Handled by Sean Doyle, the son of Jeremy finished fifth on his debut at Borris in a very competitive maiden that has produced three winners to date. On just his second start, the €18,000 store travelled very strongly into this contest and held the advantage when left clear at the last. The winner finished out his race strongly to secure a facile success here and is certainly a promising youngster who could well develop into an exciting prospect under rules.
UK P2P Review: A Goffs December NH Sale foal graduate, this fine, big horse got off to a winning start when landing an eight-runner, three-mile point-to-point at Stafford Cross. He jumped well, led three from home and while showing signs of greenness was in full command at the finishing post. Chasing him home, four lengths adrift, was a mare whose good efforts this season included a second to the Tom Lacey-owned Ramillies, who later sold at auction for £215,000. This horse’s dam was unraced, but her dam was a half-sister to four winners, including the dam of high-class hurdler/chaser Death Duty.
P2P.ie Review: Defuture Is Bright looks to be somewhat unlucky to still remain a maiden having been beaten just a short head on his debut in a four-year-old maiden last Autumn. Having returned from a mid-season break at Inch in mid - April, the son of Westerner encountered all sorts of trouble inside the final mile when hampered by another rival, ultimately finishing fourth. The consistent sort subsequently finished a close second on his next start in a five-year-old maiden under Rob James, having just being headed on the run to the line. This likable type may well prove to be a very smart prospect in the future when he graduates to the track proper and encounters a little more luck.
UK P2P Review: Battling against heavy ground and a fierce wind this gelding made a promising start to racing when second in a point-to-point bumper at Bangor-on-Dee in March (fourth has won since). He then made a successful first foray over jumps when winning a three-mile maiden point-to-point at Knightwick. He raced prominently on the latter occasion, jumped cleanly, and was in control from two out, eventually coming home 14 lengths clear of the runner-up. He joined his current yard after being bought at last year’s Goffs UK Spring Sale, and is related to plenty of close-up winners in France. His half-brother won over hurdles, his dam was placed over hurdles and she was a half-sister to a smart hurdler/chaser.
P2P.ie Review: Evander secured an impressive debut success for Donnchadh Doyle when taking division one of the four-year-old maiden at Taylorstown under Rob James. In a competive contest, this son of Arcadio deserves plenty of credit for defeating some experienced opposition here. Hitting the front after the last, the €13,500 foal showed a likeable attitude battling gamely to deny the runner up by over a length. A tough looking individual who should continue to improve, this was an impressive performance from an exciting sort who could be progressive under rules.
P2P.ie Review: The Brian Hamilton-trained Kearney Hill has two promising runs to his name this spring. The €14,000 store first made a taking debut at Kirkistown in the four-year-old maiden when finishing second under Noel McParlan. The son of Dylan Thomas subsequently ran a big race at Taylorstown on his second start, coming to grief at the last when very much in contention. Having jumped the penultimate fence well, the gelding was desperately unlucky to knuckle on landing at the final fence when sitting in a close second and still holding his chance. Out of a half-sister to the four-time winner under rules Skip Two, this fine bay could certainly progress into a very decent prospect moving forward.
Form Update: Strengthofmind (9th placed horse) - winner of 4yo Maiden P2P at Ballindenisk on 19/5/19.
Lively Citizen (4th placed horse) - placed third in 4yo Maiden P2P at Ballindenisk on 19/5/19.
P2P.ie Review: Skatman left a lasting impression when taking the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dromahane on his first start to date. Trained by Mary Doyle, the son of Mustameet was given a patient ride by Barry Stone and the debutant travelled notably well throughout. Having made relentless headway inside the final mile, the gelding picked up on the running at the penultimate obstacle before easing clear in win by two lengths. It is well worth noting that the runner up subsequently fetched €210,000 at auction. This likable sort also looks certain to have a very bright future ahead of him for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: Steinkraus showed a smart level of improvement to finish a fine second to an above average sort in the four-year-old maiden at Taylorstown on just his second start to date. Having made an educational debut at Loughbrickland, the son of Jeremy progressed from that experience to fill the runner-up berth on what was just his second start. Having been given a positive ride, the bay stayed on gamely under P A King in the closings stages to post a very promising performance. With further progression, this likable sort should have no problem making his mark felt under rules.
P2P.ie Review: The Donnchadh Doyle-trained Get In Robin got off the mark at the second time of asking in the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Fairyhouse under James Walsh. The daughter of Robin Des Champs had shown plenty of promise on her debut at Ballyarthur until coming to grief, but atoned for that when denying Calle Malva by two lengths on just her second attempt. Always to the fore, the mare quickened clear around the home bend and picked up well on the run to the line, winning somewhat cosily. Going forward, Get In Robin is a promising individual who should be capable of finding plenty of success on the track.
P2P.ie Review: The Mic Goff - trained Clondaw Pretender showed a smart level of improvement when finishing in the placings on both his starts to date. The son of Great Pretender made a pleasing debut when third on his debut behind a couple of smart looking sorts. While third again on his next start, this was quite an improved performance, as the four-year-old was only beaten two lengths on this occasion, having led half way up the run-in only to get a little tired in the dying strides. This likable sort is clearly progressive and should hold a big future under rules.
P2P UK Review: This daughter of champion sire Flemensfirth had little to beat when making her debut in a maiden point-to-point over two and a half miles at Eyton-on-Severn earlier this month, but she won with her head in her chest. Expertly prepared by leading trainer Philip Rowley, she was given an exhibition ride by top amateur Alex Edwards and looks ready to go on at a higher level. Out of an unraced mare she is a full-sister to Beg To Differ, a winner over hurdles and fences for Jonjo O’Neill, and also to five-year-old Ashtown Lad, who was recently second of ten runners in a maiden point-to-point at Monksgrange in Ireland. Second-dam Black Trix won seven races, and there are plenty of winners and black-type earners further down the page. It is fair to say this filly represents a racing and breeding prospect.
P2P.ie Review: The Donnchadh Doyle – trained Lets Go Champ left a lasting impression when taking the second division of the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bartlemy. The son of Jeremy justified favouritism to run out a very convincing winner in what looked a competitive contest. The debutant was never too far away from the pace under Rob James and quickened up in impressive fashion, having hit the front three-out, going on to win by almost two lengths. It also is worth noting that this division was ran a full 12 seconds faster than the opening division. Going forward this well-bred €90,000 store looks open to plenty of improvement and could well develop into a very exciting sort under rules.
Review: A half brother to the useful French hurdler Myboy, this 4yo son of Authorized was the highly impressive 8 length winner of his Huntingdon Bumper at the end of April. A very imposing horse, this long striding gelding won as he liked despite obvious signs of greeness leading to the assumption there is still a lot more to come. The Racing Post commented 'winning this race in some style. He is an imposing sort with a relaxed style of galloping and a long stride. Despite showing some greenness in the closing stages this was a taking performance.'
Review: This son of Doyen comes from the esteemed academy of the Crawford brothers and duly scored at the first time of asking at Ayr on 7 May. A brother to 4 winners he is out of a full sister to the Gr.1 winner Sackville and showed a good attitude & turn of foot to win by 2 ½ lengths having raced handily throughout.
P2P.ie Review: Face The Odds secured success at the second time of asking when taking the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dawstown for Denis Murphy. The Presenting gelding, who was third at Lisronagh on his only other start, ran out a five-length winner in the hands of Harley Dunne on this occasion. The £42,000 store hit the front three from home and looked the likely winner from that point onwards. A good jump at the last and a nice turn of foot saw the gelding win in good style. A half-brother to two British track winners and from the same family as Feathered Gale, Face The Odds looks to be an exciting prospect who will surely make his presence felt on the track in due course.
P2P.ie Review: Mustang Alpha got off the mark at the first time of asking when taking the first division of the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bartlemy for Mic Goff. In a truly run contest, the son of Stowaway was never too far away from the pace and caught the eye travelling well turning in. Shane Fitzgerald’s mount readily quickened clear when asked for his effort at the penultimate obstacle quickly opening up an advantage on the run to the last, staying on well to win by a comprehensive six-lengths. This exciting prospect, a €30,000 graduate of the Derby Sale looks to have a hugely exciting track career ahead of him.
P2P.ie Review: The John Nallen-trained Minella Tara was putting in a very promising debut performance in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Stowlin only to fall at the penultimate obstacle when still very much in contention. Before the son of Kayf Tara's departure, he travelled into the race very nicely and certainly looked set to play a big role when coming to grief. Having been ridden by Brian Lawless, there could be plenty more to come from this good- looking bay, who is out of a half-sister to seven-time winner Bilboa and could well develop into a useful sort between the rails for new connections.
Review: Holly James looked very useful indeed in winning a Kelso Bumper at the first time of asking on 8 May with the front pair pulling 13 lengths clear of the rest of the field. A €30,000 Store purchase, this tall son of proven sire Black Sam Bellamy is a half brother to the Gr. 3 placed chaser Dare To Endeavour with high class chaser Ellerslie George also closely related. That discipline will surely be the long term future for this horse who showed a battling attitude to further enhance his credentials.
P2P.ie Review: The Pierce Power-trained Totally Rejected put in good performance when finishing second in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dawstown under Shane O'Rourke. The son of Mustameet, who had previously fallen at the first in Taylorstown on his only other start, was up with the pace throughout before staying on gamely to fill the runner-up berth. Beaten just five lengths in this strongly run contest, this €11,000 foal certainly put in an encouraging performance here. Out of a half-sister to three-time winner Ri Na Deise and five-time winner Baltic Pathfinder, this good-looking bay may well develop into a useful sort under rules going forward.
P2P.ie Review: Straw Fan Jack made a taking debut when finishing second in the first division of the four-year-old geldings' maiden at Bartlemy in May. Ridden and trained by Mark Scallan, this Geordieland gelding held every chance on route the final fence and although not quite able to match what looks a very smart individual, the debutant kept on gamely to finish a promising second. Owned by Laura Roche, this fine grey stayed on well to the line, finishing eight lengths clear of his nearest rival. Out of a dual winner over hurdles, this likable sort should come on for this experience and could well become a useful sort in between the rails for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: The Donnchadh Doyle-trained Fakir D'Alene made a taking debut in the four-year-old maiden at Broughshane when running out an impressive 20-length winner. Under the guidance of Rob James, the son of Cokoriko raced up with the pace for much of this contest and held a comprehensive advantage when left clear at the last, before quickening smartly all the way up to the line. Having cost £30,000 as a store, Fakir D'Alene is a first foal out of a three-time winning mare. This impressive performance which should see the gelding improve and develop into an exciting prospect on the track going forward.
P2P.ie Reviews: The Peter Flood – trained A Ladies Milan made a very pleasing debut when finishing a fine second to a far more experienced sort in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Necarne. Ridden in mid division, the bay jumped and travelled notably well in the hands of Anthony Fox before coming out of the pack to chase down the winner in the closing stages. The son of Milan stayed on gamely to the line, getting to within five lengths of the winner and losing very little in defeat. Going forward this half-brother to the prolific Avondhu Lady could well develop into a smart performer under rules for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: The Bull McCabe scored at the third time of asking when taking the five-year-old maiden at Dromahane in April for Brian Jordan and Benny Walsh. The son of Yeats, who came to grief on his debut at Lingstown, later pulled up at Curraghmore having encountered trouble in running which caused him to be pushed of the track. The bay proved to be a tough sort on the next occasion at Dromahane, battling hard after the last to get the better of the runner up by one-and-a-half lengths. This likable type, out of a half-sister to five-time winner Icantsay, displayed a good attitude and may well develop into a smart performer under rules for new connections in the future.
P2P.ie Review: Three Nations finished a solid third on just his second start in the first division of the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bartlemy for handler Tom Heating. Having been unlucky to unseat on his debut, the son of Yeats was ridden to the fore of proceedings by Harley Dunne on this occasion. Having set up a solid gallop up front, the bay opened up an advantage turning-in, quickening clear on the run to two-out. Although getting a little tired after being headed on the run to the last, this promising sort stuck to his task to finish a fine third behind a couple of decent looking prospects. Going forward this four-year-old could have a decent future under rules.
P2P.ie Review: The Mick Winters-trained Scullys Forge recorded success at the third time of asking when taking a five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dromahane in the hands of Chris O’Donovan. A progressive sort, having previously finished a close fifth on his last outing, the son of Doyen was well positioned throughout, before getting the measure of the long-time leader in the closing stages, battling hard to win. This good looking sort cost €12,000 as a store and is out of a half-sister four-time winner Casual Cavalier. This is strapping type who may well progress and make his mark on the track over longer distances in the future.
P2P.ie Review: The Mic Goff – trained Clondaw Caitlin was beaten just half a length in second in a four-year-old mares’ maiden at Bartlemy having made a crucial error at the final fence. This likable daughter of Court Cave showed herself to be a very tough sort, as she came to grief just two days earlier at Necarne in the early stages before reappearing quickly to be beaten by just half a length. Having hit the front on the run to the last, a slow jump here cost her the advantage, however this likable type rallied back gamely in the closing stages with the line just coming a little soon. Going forward this well-bred bay should make her impact felt on the track proper.
P2P.ie Review: Racks Cross gained a well-deserved success when taking the five-year-old and upwards mares’ maiden at Bartlemy for handler Kieran Roche. The five-year-old was the clear pick on form going into this contest having being placed on her first three starts. The daughter of Jeremy bounced out and made every post a winning one of this occasion, putting in an exhibition of jumping from the front under James Walsh. The favourite was certainly not going to be denied, readily quickening clear to win by a comprehensive eight lengths. This likable sort should have no problem transferring her consistency to a successful career under rules.
P2P.ie Review: The Hotelier ran a huge race when finishing a fine third in the second division of the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bartlemy. Having had an educational run earlier in the Spring, the son of Yeats improved to be beaten less than ten lengths in what looked a very competitive contest, ran 12 seconds faster than the opening division. Ridden by Chris O’Donovan the good-looking bay was always up with the strong pace, before picking up the advantage four-out. Although headed turning-in, the Joe Ryan-trained gelding galloped out to the line and certainly left the impression that there was plenty more to come. Going forward this could certainly be a very smart sort under rules.
P2P.ie Review: The Ian McCarthy-trained I'll Be That Lady finishing a very taking second in the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Necarne in the hands of Derek O'Connor. Having ran a nice race on her debut at Dromahane when only beaten eight and a half lengths, the daughter of Mahler showed plenty of improvement on her next start in this competitive 14-runner contest. Leading for much of the race, this good-looking bay was only headed at the penultimate obstacle and having galloped all the way to the line, lost very little in defeat. Out of a half-sister to nine-time winner Theo, I'll Be That Lady looks to be a progressive individual who could well become a smart performer under rules in the future.
P2P.ie Review: The Paul Cashman-trained Coole Lion has won two of his three starts to date. Having found success in the adjacent at Kildorrery in February on his second start, this son of Presenting showed plenty of improvement to secure a three-length victory in the winners’ of two at Dawstown under Derek O'Connor . Travelling well close to the pace, the €25,000 foal hit the front two-out, before staying on gamely to win in comprehensive fashion. Out of a sister to 13-time winner Bellflower Boy, Coole Lion is clearly a progressive sort who could develop into an exciting prospect on the track.
P2P.ie Review: The Denis Murphy – trained Backinthegame ran a promising race to fill the runner-up spot on just his second start to date at Dawstown. Having had an educational run on his debut, the son of Presenting improved that effort on his next start, when only beaten two lengths in a five-year-old geldings’ maiden. Having being given a patient ride by Harley Dunne, the son of Presenting made eye catching headway inside the final mile, before staying on dourly to the line. Going forward this promising sort could well develop into a nice sort for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: Filou Des Issards ran well when finishing third on his debut in the four-year-old geldings' maiden at Dawstown for Timmy Hyde. A strongly run contest saw this son of Network finish best of the newcomers under the guidance of Steven Connor. Having travelled notably well into the race, slight errors over the final two fences certainly did not help his cause and this white faced chesnut should undoubtedly come on for the experience. Out of a four-time winning dam, this striking gelding could well develop into a smart performer between the rails in the future.
P2P.ie Review: Akardashion ran a huge race when finishing second in the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Dromahane for James King. The daughter of Sans Frontieres was previously running a promising race when coming to grief on her debut at Rathcannon, before reappearing here at Dromahane a few weeks later. Ridden by Johnny Barry on this occasion, the chesnut jumped and travelled well throughout, before getting into contention at the penultimate obstacle. To her credit this twice raced mare galloped all the way to the line and although she was not quite able to peg back the winner, this progressive sort lost little in defeat here. Out of a half-sister to the useful point and track winner Island Peak, this smart type could well develop into a promising individual on the track going forward.
P2P.ie Review: Glory Road ran a fine race when finishing third in a five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dromahane for Colin Motherway. Under the guidance of James Walsh, the son of Fame And Glory came to throw down a strong challenge before the final fence and only gave way on the run to the line. Beaten less than three lengths, this was a hugely encouraging performance from the debutant. Out of a half-sister to five-time winner Ceasar Milan, this €24,000 foal is certainly one to watch with interest. He could well develop into a smart performer on the track for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: The Cormac Farrell-trained Another Tuco found success in an older maiden at Stowlin on his third start to date. Having finished sixth on his debut at Cragmore in February, the bay came to grief when in a close second at the final fence at Quakerstown on his next start. On his third attempt, the son of Westerner travelled smoothly into the race and looked the winner from the second last. Having eased a little when in front on the run to the final fence, the bay lost some momentum and thus, may be better value for more than the winning margin of two lengths suggests. Lightly raced for a six-year-old he may well continue to improve and could develop into a smart sort under rules in the future for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: The John Redmond-trained Highway Prince got off the mark at the fifth time of asking in the five-year-old confined maiden at Curraghmore in April. The son of Prince Flori, who finished fourth on his previous start, caught the eye travelling well around the home bend before hitting the front at the back of the second last. Having quickened away after a fine leap at this obstacle, the chesnut gelding came home an easy three-length winner in the hands of John O'Neill. Out of a half-sister to eight-time winner Katies Tuitor, this Sean Kinsella-owned gelding looks to be nice sort for the future.
