1 Russell's Quarter (IRE) by Imperial Monarch (IRE) x Native Bev (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Russell’s Quarter is a horse that is clearly held in high regard by connections as he was well-supported in the market ahead of his debut, so much so that he was sent off as the short-priced favourite at Oldtown in February. Ultimately a faller on that occasion, he has since returned and posted two very solid performances to finish second at both Loughanmore and Kirkistown. On his return in October, the son of Imperial Monarch finished just three lengths in arrears of Our Surprise (subsequently sold for £50,000 at the Goffs UK November Sale at Yorton Farm). Last month, he once again travelled very strongly through his race at Kirkistown only to make a costly mistake at the final fence in the back straight. To his credit though he once again finished second, chasing home a twice previously placed horse in the process.

3 He's A Knowall (IRE) by Oscar (IRE) x Miss Knowall (IRE)

Review: Fourteen horses lined up in division II of the point-to-point bumper run at Barbury Racecourse on Sunday, but at the finish there was only one horse in it. He’s A Knowall sprinted clear of the field turning for home, eventually winning by 15 lengths in a time that was ten seconds faster than division I of the race. A good-sized horse who was given time to mature before his debut, he looks ready to start over hurdles and he comes from a family that has shown talents on the Flat and over jumps. His granddam produced the Gr.3 Prix Lutece-placed Armand, but also the smart jumpers Guilder, Goss and Rock Gone, while the third dam finished fourth in the French Oaks and produced Ribblesdale Stakes winner Ballinderry, the dam of Gr.1 French Derby winner Sanglamore. For a jumping prospect there is plenty of speed in the family.

4 Imperial Hope (IRE) by Imperial Monarch (IRE) x Ebony Hope (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Imperial Hope made the best possible start to his career with a winning debut at Stradbally on Sunday. Setting a good gallop, the tempo that the son of Imperial Monarch set got many of his rivals out of their comfort zones, with just three of the 11 rivals still running by the home straight. Despite getting headed before the penultimate fence, he showed a great attitude to battle back and move through to lead once the €55,000 store, Findthetime, exited at the last, to win by half a length in the quickest time on the card, some 16 seconds quicker than the day’s average.

5 Ottoman Style (GB) by Kayf Tara (GB) x Oligarch Society (IRE)

P2P.ie review: Ottoman Style is an eye-filling son of Kayf Tara with a beautiful pedigree to match it. Out of a Listed winning Moscow Society mare that is a half-sister to the 2015 Irish National winner Thunder And Roses and Kerry National winner Wrath Of Titans, Ottoman Style himself is a half-brother of the 151-rated Grade 3 winner Brahma Bull and he opened his account at Borris House in late November at the first time of asking. Although the conclusion of the race proved to be a dramatic one, Ottoman Style was finishing off best of all having been trapped wide around the home bend. Once landing with the advantage at the penultimate fence, he immediately asserted to defeat the previously placed Champ Is Real by five lengths.

6 Minella Buster (IRE) by Beat Hollow (GB) x Itsallaracket (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Coming from the John Nallen stable, Minella Buster is of course a well-bred individual with this son of Beat Hollow out of a Rudimentary mare that won three of her opening four starts whilst also picking up black type by finishing third in a Listed contest over hurdles. She has already produced the ultra-consistent Sense Of Urgency, a mare that has finished in the placings on 13 of her 20 starts. Minella Buster himself has a very progressive profile as he has shown improvement in each of his three outings to date, culminating in a four-year-old maiden success at Kinsale earlier in the month. Patiently ridden, he was steadily introduced into the contest to land with the advantage with a quicker jump at the penultimate fence. Showing a very likeably battling attitude, he gamely battled to defeat a £30,000 son of Kayf Tara and opening his account.

7 Classic Getaway (IRE) by Getaway (GER) x Classic Magic (IRE)

P2P.ie review: You could not but be impressed by the visual performance that Classic Getaway produced to make a winning debut at Borris House. Rob James was ultra-confident in the saddle aboard the £65,000 Goffs UK Spring Store Sale recruit, as he caught the eye throughout racing just in behind the leaders. Jumping his way to the front at the fourth-last with the much swifter leap, the four-year-old was unchallenged from that point onwards, as once pulling clear of his rivals exiting out of the back straight, his advantage was never eroded despite not having to be asked a serious question to cross the line eight lengths clear of the more experienced Allo Allo. A son of the top sire Getaway, he could not have won in any easier fashion.

8 Harper's Brook (IRE) by Ask (GB) x Un Jour D Ete (FR)

This big, scopey gelding, an AQPS-bred son of Ask, won Britain’s first ever four-year-olds’ only point-to-point which was run over two and a half miles recently at Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire. Making his racing debut he made all the running, jumped fluently out of very soft ground and repelled his rivals to win easing down by 12 lengths. The placed horses came from top stables, with the third having run out the easy winner of a point-to-point bumper four weeks earlier. This horse’s dam – whose other foals include five-year-old Wetlands, a useful five-year-old bumper winner for trainer Nicky Richards – won a bumper herself in France and was a half-sister to four other winners, headed by Sweet My Lord, who became a Gr.3 winner over jumps in Ireland. The second dam won 13 races in France.

9 The Wise Traveller (IRE) by Getaway (GER) x Butterfly Betty (IRE)

Review: This graduate of Goffs UK’s Spring Sale showed a smart turn of foot to win a 12-runner, three-mile maiden point-to-point on debut at Alnwick on Sunday. In touch at halfway, he was moved steadily closer to the pace and went second going to two out, before taking the lead on the run-in. The runner-up, Fitz In, is Lot 27 in this catalogue. By a leading sire, The Wise Traveller is the son of an unraced Beneficial mare who was a half-sister to three winners under Rules.

10 Ozzie Man (IRE) by Ask (GB) x Parkdota (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Ozzie Man could not have made a better start to his racing career with a winning debut at Stradbally in testing conditions on Sunday. The Ask gelding, who is a half-brother to Jakros, a three-time winner for Noel Meade, stalked the long-time leader on the run for the home straight before being delivered with his challenge at the penultimate fence from where he swiftly moved into the lead. Kept up to his work coming to the last, he was always holding the runner-up in a real test of a young horse which saw just the two finishers and therefore has to be given a great deal of credit for that.

12 Tango Tara (GB) by Kayf Tara (GB) x Bling Noir (FR)

P2P.ie review: Hailing from the same yard as the black type winners such as Marias Benefit, Israel Champ and Eden Du Houx, Tango Tara proved himself to be an ultra-tough performer by winning at Ballindenisk in late November. The Cork venue is a real test of a horse, particularly one having its debut, and so you would have to be really impressed with the winning attitude that this son of Kayf Tara produced. Always towards the fore, he hit the front on jumping the second last, and it was particularly taking to see that when the game runner-up attempted to come back at him at the final fence, he picked up on the climb for home to win going away at the line in a time some 14 seconds quicker than the day’s average and the quickest on the card. A price tag of €72,000 from the store sales says it all about the model of a horse that he is and he has now backed that up at the first time of asking on the track.

13 For Fitz Sake (IRE) by Califet (FR) x Hollygrove (IRE)

Review: Sent to Alnwick on Sunday for his first racing appearance, this horse won a three-mile maiden race which drew 13 runners. Always handy, and sitting in a close third at halfway, he came through to lead two out and went on to score by seven lengths, galloping through the line and looking set to go round again. Jockey Will Easterby reported he jumped like an old pro. A £20,000 Goffs UK Spring Sale store graduate, he is a half-brother to a point-to-point winner. His dam was the daughter of a mare who won six races and produced four winners of her own, including the high-class chaser Cane Brake, the Gr.3-winning hurdler Judge Roy Bean and the consistent chaser Bob Hall.

14 Queen's River (GB) by Kayf Tara (GB) x Follow My Leader (IRE)

*100% Registered for the Great British Bonus Scheme*

P2P.ie Review: Queens River comes from a yard that has built up a notable reputation for producing smart mares and this looks to be another of them after she made a winning debut under a confident Derek O’Connor. Always at the head of affairs and able to dictate the tempo, she began to stamp her authority on the race in between the final two fences when extending on without seemingly having to be asked a serious question. Given the testing underfoot conditions, it was particularly notable just how easily she was then able to pick up in a matter of strides after to the last to really put the race to bed and win on Sunday by three and a half lengths. She still seemed to have a good deal in the tank crossing the line and is certainly one to look forward to.

15 Kayf Hernando (GB) by Kayf Tara (GB) x Thrice Nice (GB)

P2P.ie review: Kayf Hernando was unlucky not to make a winning debut at Kinsale earlier in the month, as he led the field into the home straight, only to make a serious error at the penultimate fence. This handed the initiative to his chief rival, John Nallen’s Minella Buster, however despite that horse having the benefit of two previous outings, Kayf Hernando was not found wanting as he battled back in very game fashion. By the line, the son of Kayf Tara, who was bought for £30,000 at the 2019 Goffs UK August Sale, was only denied by a short-head with genuine expectations that he can go one place better in the near future.

16 Ruling De Roost (IRE) by Rule of Law (USA) x Silent Memory (IRE)

P2P.ie review: Ruling De Roost is a horse with a very progressive profile as he has improved with each outing this year culminating in a narrow defeat at Tattersalls recently. A fine third at Lingstown on his re-appearance in a big field auction maiden, the son of Rule Of Law followed up that effort by improving on his next start. Putting his experience to good use, he jumped the last upsides a well-related French bred that is owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede and such was the jump that he put in at the last, he was able to quickly go a length clear on the run-in only to be reeled back in in the closing stages in what were testing conditions, with the pair pulling six lengths clear of a recent Loughbrickland runner-up in third.

17 Midnight It Is (GB) by Midnight Legend (GB) x Santera (IRE)

P2P.ie review: Out of a Gold Away mare that won seven races over hurdles, Midnight It Is was in pole position to claim a debut success at Borris House in late November, as he was holding a two-length advantage when coming down at the penultimate fence.  The Midnight Legend gelding had moved through to lead after jumping the third-last fence, and having cornered particularly smartly around the home bend, he was able to put his speed to good effect approaching the second last. With previously placed horses and expensive stores in behind and seemingly held by him at the time, the indications had been that a debut success was likely.

18 My Mate Mozzie by Born To Sea (IRE) x Leo's Spirit (IRE)

P2P.ie review: My Mate Mozzie made the perfect start to his career when an eight-length success at Tattersalls earlier this month. A first son of Born To Sea to win an Irish point-to-point, the four-year-old emerged from the dense fog at the head of affairs and what was most impressive about the manner of this success, was just how easily he was able to extend his winning advantage on the uphill climb to the line. Three lengths clear of the well-fancied runner-up jumping the last, he was certainly not stopping on the run-in, as he more than doubled this advantage in the manner of a horse who clearly had a great deal more to offer in the quickest time on the card.

22 Salt Of The Earth (IRE) by El Salvador (IRE) x Brambellina (IRE)

Review: This big and scopey gelding made a novicey mistake and unseated Will Biddick on his debut at Kimble last month, but he ticked all the boxes at Barbury Racecourse on Sunday. He had the pacemaker covered when that rival fell at the end of the back straight, and with neat jumps at the next two fences had only to be pushed out to score. The runner-up, a €35,000 store by Presenting, came from a top stable and is sure to win before long – the pair were clear of the remainder. Salt Of The Earth comes from a top stable himself, and will have been well educated. He comes from the first crop of his sire – a son of Galileo and the top-class racemare Balisada – his dam was a half-sister to two winners and the classy performers Dempsey and Coole River are further down the page.

23 Name Of Fame (IRE) by Fame And Glory (GB) x Outo'theblue (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Having cost €48,000 as a store, Name Of Fame made his debut in a big field maiden at Mainstown where he was one of 17 runners. Patiently ridden, the son of Fame And Glory arrived on the scene travelling well into the home straight. As can so often be the case at this venue, there were a whole host of horses with chances at the penultimate fence, but he ran right to the line to finish a very creditable second, getting the better of a vastly more experienced and twice-placed son of Shirocco to hang onto that spot. That was a lovely introduction and a performance which will set him up for his new career on the track.

24 Superior Glance (GB) by Passing Glance (GB) x Qualitee (GB)

This likeable, five-year-old mare was nothing if not game when making a winning debut in a point-to-point bumper at Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire recently. It was the ninth and final race on the card and the ground was nothing if not tiring, but she stuck to the task when chasing down the early pacemaker and then stayed on resolutely to the line to secure a narrow, but deserved victory. The first three pulled well clear of the remaining runners. By a well-known sire who consistently gets winners, she is the daughter of a tough mare who ran in 24 jumps race, winning two handicap chases and being placed over hurdles, while the second dam was a similar type, running 28 times on the Flat and landing three staying races.

26 Getaway Lily Bear (IRE) by Getaway (GER) x Jemima Jones (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Getaway Lily Bear appeared to bump into an above average looking horse when she made a very promising debut at Boulta on Sunday. Always to the fore racing down the inside, she appeared to be holding every chance climbing into the home straight, before the eventual winner began to assert in between the final two fences. The daughter of Getaway dug deep under pressure and was ultimately only beaten by three and a half lengths in a time which came in under the card’s average. She looks a horse that should be winning in the near future.

27 Fitz In (IRE) by Getaway (GER) x Tastytimes (IRE)

Review: Making his racing debut in a 12-runner maiden point-to-point at Alnwick on Sunday this son of Getaway made a good impression. Jumping and travelling well, he took up the running with three to jump and was a length and a half up at the last, but was passed on the run-in by The Wise Traveller, who scored by one and a half lengths and is also in this catalogue (Lot 9). The pair were clear of the third. Fitz In is trained by Harriet Dickin, a leading event rider and daughter of trainer Robin Dickin, and therefore will have received a sound education. He is a half-brother to two winners under Rules and his dam was a half-sister to three winners. Under the third dam appears the name of top-class chaser Might Bite.

28 Grain De Folie (FR) by Balko (FR) x Muse De Clermont (FR)

P2P.ie Review: Grain De Folie had made his debut in a top class Borris House maiden in the spring which has recently produced the £310,000 seller Guily Billy, and he became the latest horse to come out of that race and produce a smart performance when finishing second at Stradbally on Sunday. Following heavy overnight rain, conditions proved to be challenging, particularly for young horses, however Grain De Folie adapted well to the conditions as he attempted to make all of the running. The gallop that he set in the conditions had many of his rivals out of their comfort zones from quite an early stage, with just one of nine rivals that set out still in the race at the third last. Whilst Ozzie Man was able to overtake him in the home straight, it was likeable to see how gamely he stuck to his task, so much so that he was beaten by just two length at the line.

30 Ingeborg Zilling (IRE) by Mahler (GB) x Lindy Lou (GB)

Review: This mare was sent off the 1-2 favourite when making her racing debut on Sunday, and she did not let her backers down. One of nine runners in a maiden race for fillies and mares run at Barbury Racecourse, she was in the forefront of a small group that pulled clear running down the back straight, and she had put space between herself and her rivals at the second-last fence. She eventually won by five lengths from a mare who had finished second on her previous run. Ingeborg Zilling, a well-made daughter of Mahler, comes from a top stable and is said to be a sweet mare who has always been easy to handle and quick to learn. She is the daughter of a Hernando mare who won over 12 furlongs on the Flat and also over hurdles. Further down the page appears the name of The Fly, who was placed in the Gr.1 St Leger.

31 Planned Paradise (IRE) by Westerner (GB) x Quel Bleu (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Planned Paradise has an eye-catching pedigree being out of a half-sister to the talented 11-time track winner Carryonharry, and he was quite unlucky not to have made a winning debut at Stradbally on Sunday. Always close to the strong pace which resulted in the race clocking the quickest time of the day, some 16 seconds quicker than the day’s average, he tracked the long-time leader into the home straight before coming wide around the home bend with his challenge. Holding every chance at the last, the fall of his chief rival had seemed to leave him with the race at his mercy, however he too made a mistake at the last and the short run-in at this venue did not allow him the chance to come back as he was narrowly denied close home.

32 Here Comes The Man (IRE) by Flemensfirth (USA) x Nifty Nuala (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Here Comes The Man is just the second off-spring of his Saddlers’ Hall-sired dam, however she seems to be producing some talented individuals, as his year older own-brother Mack The Man was a Listed hurdle winner at Sandown for Evan Williams last year, and he could not have been more impressive when making a winning debut at Boulta on Sunday. Always to the fore, he began to get the field on the stretch from the third last and quickly began to thin out the field, so much so that once arriving at the penultimate obstacle, he had already accounted for all his challengers and simply went further and further clear demonstrating a fine balance of speed and stamina to win impressively by 12 lengths. With the runner-up having finished a close second on his most recent start, and the third being a €40,000 Shirocco gelding, the indications are that this was a very smart introduction.

33 Glancing Glory (IRE) by Presenting (GB) x Littlemissthistle (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Having finished third at the same venue last month, Glancing Glory took the expected step forward on her very next start to win at Boulta on Sunday. A slightly slower leap at the third-last fence seemed to put her on the back foot as she dropped off the front pair and seeming to be held in third rounding the home bend. However to her credit she relentlessly stuck to her task moving through to lead at the last and toughing it out on the run-in to win going away by two a half lengths.

34 Benny's Oscar (IRE) by Oscar (IRE) x Benefit Ball (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Having cost €47,000 as a three-year-old, Benny’s Oscar has a progressive profile which has seen him take a notable step forward in recent weeks beginning with his promising placed effort in a big-field maiden at Lingstown last month where he finished third behind the subsequent £42,000 seller Bardenstown Lad. Having kept on strongly on that occasion, he again contested a big-field maiden when going to two places better at Stradbally last Sunday. Showing his versatility to handle much more testing conditions, he was never too far away from the pace and showed plenty of likeable qualities to get the better of a persistent rival following a prolonged tussle up the home straight, winning by a length at the line.

35 Dazzling Glory (IRE) by Califet (FR) x Market Niche (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Dazzling Glory offered a great deal of promise on her debut despite coming down at the final fence at Oldcastle in September as she had looked booked for the second spot behind Fable, who was subsequently sold for £60,000 at the Goffs UK November Sale. Returning very much to that excellent form at Stradbally on Sunday, she won by the widest margins on the card with a 12-length success. Moving through to extend the field from the fourth-last fence, her rivals were already facing an uphill battle to go with her from before the home straight, as she simply galloped clear of two horses who had a combined six previous placed efforts to their name to offer plenty of depth to the performance. Having now shown a great versatility on all surfaces, she should certainly develop into a very effective performer for new connections.

37 Onagatheringstorm (IRE) by Imperial Monarch (IRE) x Springfield Mary (IRE)

P2P.ie Review: Onagatheringstorm has proven himself to be a ultra-consistent performer that has taken a notable step forward. Following solid displays at both Tinahely and Damma House earlier this season, where he was beaten by less than eight lengths on both outings, the Imperial Monarch gelding gained what was a very much deserved victory at Borris House late last month. Patiently ridden by Barry Walsh on that occasion, he proved to be a game individual, as once coming under pressure from the third last, he kept finding and was certainly doing all of his best work in the closing stages. That saw him put in a particularly good jump at the penultimate obstacle which saw him land running and quickly overhaul the front trio to win going away by three lengths to defeat a previously placed Fame And Glory gelding and a €40,000 Robin Des Champs newcomer.
