1. Russell's Quarter (IRE)

Ballynoe Stables (Brian Hamilton)

George Bewley
£20,000

Updates

P2P.ie Review: Russell’s Quarter is a horse that is clearly held in high regard by connections as he was well-supported in the market ahead of his debut, so much so that he was sent off as the short-priced favourite at Oldtown in February. Ultimately a faller on that occasion, he has since returned and posted two very solid performances to finish second at both Loughanmore and Kirkistown. On his return in October, the son of Imperial Monarch finished just three lengths in arrears of Our Surprise (subsequently sold for £50,000 at the Goffs UK November Sale at Yorton Farm). Last month, he once again travelled very strongly through his race at Kirkistown only to make a costly mistake at the final fence in the back straight. To his credit though he once again finished second, chasing home a twice previously placed horse in the process.
