To his credit, the newcomer stuck to his task over those final two obstacles, and whilst his advantaged was reduced inside the closing stages as the chasing runners began making an impression into his lead, he was always in command and never had to be asked for maximum effort. This was a very promising sort for a horse with plenty of gears.
