Calino D’Airy acquitted himself very strongly to competitive action as he out-battled his nearest rival in a real gutsy manner to prevail in a race which saw the front pair impressively pull 8 lengths clear of the third horse. The French-bred son of Anzillero appears to have plenty of pace about him, as when injected an increase in tempo on the climb to the home straight, only the runner-up Instant Replay was able to quicken with him, leaving a number of form horses trailing in their wake, including the previously placed Novemberstorm and Largy Bull both of whom had finished closer to the winner on their previous outings. A very capable type on the evidence of this debut performance, he looks very smart.
