Making good ground to challenge the eventual winner and long-time leader around the home bend, she was launching her challenge in the straight, only for a mistake at the last to cost her valuable ground. To her credit she maintained the gap to the more experienced winner on the long run-in and would certainly have been fancied to go one better by now had the season not been curtailed prematurely.
