P2P.ie comment: Sweet As Candy did little wrong when winning a five-year-old geldings' maiden at Lisronagh under Harley Dunne. Racing in mid-division, he always impressed with the manner of how he travelled. Produced to lead from three-out, it was plain sailing from there as the Morozov gelding went clear in the style of a good sort, scoring by an eased down six-lengths. Trained by Denis Murphy who has produced some smart types in the past, the five-year-old beat some horses with previous experience, most notably Friary Gold who was beaten a distance back in third and has since boosted the form by finishing second in a bumper at Cork recently. His dam Sweet Nancy is a half-sister to Duers who achieved a track rating of 135 over fences.
