P2P Review: This four-year-old from the family of Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Bravemansgame made a very pleasing debut when winning a maiden point-to-point over two and a half miles at Cothelstone in Somerset last week. Well prepared at the yard which is heading the British point-to-point trainers’ championship, he was held up in midfield among the ten runners until produced to lead approaching the penultimate fence. A good jump there and a precision leap at the final fence maintained his lead and he ran on gamely to win by two and a half lengths and a length. The placed horses appeared to show marked improvement for racing on a sounder surface than has been the case of late. Moonbow, who was bought as a store at last year’s Goffs UK Spring Sale, has a page to back-up this very good initial impression. He is the first foal of a mare who won four races in France and was one of eight winners out of her dam. They include the high-class gelding Gray Steel, but also Genefique, who is the dam of Paul Nicholls’ aforementioned top-notch chaser Bravemansgame.
