P2P.ie Review: Few maiden races at Stradbally have been won in as impressive a fashion as the 18-length victory of Flaubert earlier this month. Returning from a six-month break, the Flemensfirth gelding showed the clear benefit for that patience as he took a big step forward. Making much of the running on the Good ground, his rider began to steadily increase the advantage going out on the final circuit. Aided by a swift round of jumping, that was a move that none of his rivals could ever counter. At one point it looked like the runner-up, who had finished within ten lengths of a recent €120,000 seller at Fairyhouse, may close, but in fact the opposite happened and Flaubert opened the gap even further to prevail by 18 lengths without ever coming off the bridle. A time 11 seconds quicker than the average on the card, a notable on Good ground, backed up the visually impressive performance.
