P2P.ie Review: Tommy Cullen is a progressive son of Hillstar who has shown likeable improvement particularly since being ridden close to the pace in the two runs since his Lisronagh debut. At Taylorstown last month he certainly did not have the run off the race having lost his challenging position when running off the home bend which looked particularly costly. He then made an error at the final fence when likely set to finish in the placings, something he made sure of at Broughshane earlier in the month. This is a race which has been won by subsequent 140-rated chasers Born Survivor, Calino D’Airy, and Fakir D’Alene in three of its previous five renewals. He tried to make all of the running in the 2022 edition of the race, overcoming a serious error four-out before showing a game attitude on the climb up the straight to finish a close third in a time eight seconds quicker than the day’s average. His maiden success is surely just around the corner.
