Emerald Chieftain heads to the sales with a wealth of experience under his belt. The eight-year-old had four previous runs on the pointing circuit last spring and gained a deserved maiden success at Aghabullogue in January. Having led and disputed the lead for much of the contest, the son of Oscar held an advantage after the penultimate fence where he stayed on gamely to win by five lengths over his runner-up who been placed already this season. Emerald Chieftain is a half-brother to the eight-time winner, Westerner Point and is a consistent sort that can be competitive for his new owners.
