Cepalo Delafayette took the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Templencarriga in December on what was his second start between the flags. The Terence O’Brien-trained winner had one previous run where he led for much of the race only to tire after the penultimate fence to finish third at Ballindenisk. Stepping up from that effort, Cepalo Delafayette made all and posted a fine front-running performance where he won by an eased down four lengths. By the same sire as Triolo D’Alene, Cepalo Delafayette is out of the winning mare Nirvana De Lafayette as well as being from the family of Grade 2 winner Urban Hymn and looks like a horse that could be a real money spinner for his new connections.
