Aintree Sale 2023
P2P.ie Review: Just Gino made an impressive start on his first career outing when winning his maiden at Lisronagh at the end of March. He was making smooth progress to join the leader when left in the lead two fences from home. He picked up well from the last to deny Electric Jet by a length. This fellow showed some signs of greenness but still managed to score well under James Walsh, which suggests there is more to offer. He looks a decent type that go should well to perform under rules where he should have a successful career for new connections.
P2P.ie Review: This is a very smart youngster who was running a massive race on debut at Liscarroll and travelling notably strongly before coming down two out. The race looked a very competitive and was run in a fast time but there were none going better than this fellow when he exited. On his second run which was just one week later he had gone to the front with the look of an obvious winner when coming down at the last. He jumped the fence well and clean and just failed to land correctly coming to grief. He has now proven himself twice to a high level and in the space of a week making him a safe bet to be a sound and consistent sort at the top end of the sport.
P2P.ie Review: An exceptional individual who has the class to match his scope and presence based on his performance in winning at Loughanmore on just his second start. He is a brother to the top class chaser Bellshill and his attitude when lengthening in the closing stages was impressive when he needed to. He looks a horse with notable scope and one who will appreciate a step up to grade 1 courses where it will bring out the best in him. A very exciting sort for the future.
P2P.ie Review: Seven mares went to the second last tightly bunched and it was clear that this mare was the last to come off the bridle. She had the cruising speed to bring right into this contest and once the mares began to feel the pinch up the stiff Rathcannon hill she found generously. She was always willing to give more to her riders urgings and went away to win by over two lengths. She is out of a four times winning mare and on this evidence she too will become a multiple winning mare. She has a cruising speed to suit shorter distances and a stamina reserve to ensure she will be effective over all trips.
P2P.ie Review: This athletic looking son of Jukebox Jury won on the first time asking when running out a two length winner of his maiden at Portrush last month. He was ridden patiently throughout and really caught the eye when showing a good turn of foot to pull clear approaching the last. He has plenty of scope and produced a good round of jumping. He is a well-bred sort is a half-brother of the Gordon Elliott Grade 1 winner Fury Road. This exciting sort appears to possess all the right attributes of a top class sort who should go on to having a very successful career under rules.
P2P Review: Making his debut at Sheriff Hutton in Yorkshire recently, this four-year-old ran out a most convincing winner over two miles and five furlongs. He and his chief market rival – a fellow four-year-old by Clovis Du Berlais and from a very astute yard – were held up at the back of the five-runner field, but went on with just over half a mile to run. This horse was gaining the upper hand as they raced to the second-last fence where he made the sort of mistake which would have stopped many youngsters, not least given that the ground was testing. However, he shook off that mishap, jumped the last fence in style and pulled clear to win by 20 lengths. His dam, a daughter of Robin Des Champs, won over jumps in France and was a half-sister to three other winners across the Channel.
P2P.ie Review: By the sire of Irish Point and out of a Robin Des Champs mare this fellow is closely related to Ungaro and Houblon Des Obeaux. He ran a cracker on debut at Quakerstown when moving into contention towards the second last. From there he was luckless to say the least. He was notably impeded before the turn for home and then managed to switch and challenge for a share of the lead before blundering his chance away at the final fence. This run would have taken notable ability to overcome and he has shown himself a very talented sort who with any degree of luck would have won many similar maidens run this season.
P2P.ie Review: An impressive winner of his maiden at Monksgrange which is often one of the most competitive races of the season. With none of the seven runners wanting to make the early running this fellow took the initiative and went on. That is a sign of an uncomplicated and versatile horse who was able to alter plans at short notice and come out on top. In making the running he never missed a beat and had quickened clear going to the last. A saddle malfunction at the final fence was not enough to cost him success and he went away to score by four lengths. It was a race run in a decent time and he seems a horse with a very bright future.
P"P.ie Review: A debut winner of her maiden in Durrow and for good measure she clocked a time eleven seconds faster than the average time on the day. It was a twelve lengths success which was further notable given the runner up had been third and fourth on her two previous starts and beaten less than twelve lengths each time. That confirms that this mare beating such a solid yardstick on her debut points to her being a top mare. She is by top sire Kapgarde and out of a very talented mare who won five races herself and related to plenty of classy and smart mares too. She is well prepared to make a big impact from here.
P2P.ie Review: By Milan out of the high class multiple winner Tarla this fellow was bred to have considerable talent. On his debut at Portrush he ran into a brother of Fury Road and finished a fine second. He made much of the running and battled well to the final fence where he was challenged. The race was run in a time ten seconds faster than the average time on the day and given the pedigree of the leading protagonists here he looks a horse with a very bright future who has run in a top maiden.
P2P.ie Review: This son of Estejo posted an encouraging debut when finishing runner-up to the exciting San Frandisco at Monksgrange. The gelding responded well to pressure and got within four lengths of the winner. He showed a willing attitude and will have gained plenty from the experience and it won’t be long before he sheds his maiden tag. It is worth noting that the front pair pulled 12 lengths clear of the remainder and the race was four seconds faster than the average on the day.
P2P.ie Review: A progressive and proven talented son of Soldier Of Fortune. He ran a fine race on debut which stands up to all scrutiny. As a four year old in October he finished a fine fourth at Moira when just eight lengths behind Tullyhill. That winner has since transferred to Willie Mullins and impressed many when winning at Gowran Park when coasting to victory. This fellow then turned up at Castletown-Geoghegan for his second start and duly saw off the Gordon Elliott trained Lough Owel by over two lengths in a convincing display. He hails from a page of fine NH performers such as Benefficient, Guts For Garters and Asklynn.
P2P.ie Review: This daughter of Milan out of a Shirocco mare impressed many judges on her debut when winning at Monksgrange. She had been well supported in the market which suggested connections knew what they had on their hands from her home work. She had been green in the early stages of this maiden but from the back of the second last she showed what she had clearly been doing at home. It appeared as though the leaders had got too far away from her but she quickened up impressively and after the final fence began to make rapid progress. She got up on the line to beat the Colin Bowe trained and Brian Acheson owned Joueuse Royale confirming this was a race of considerable depth. An exciting proposition.
P2P.ie Review: A daughter of Milan out of a Presenting mare she was a real eyecatcher at Lisronagh when travelling strongly out of the back straight before being eased and educated up the home straight. That education stood to her as she came out in a competitive Ballyknock maiden and took the scalp of Bluey who had some smart Lingstown form from a maiden which is already proving top notch. She showed a good turn of foot when required and this allowed her to put this race away after the last and she stayed on strongly to the line. There will be plenty of opportunities ahead for this nicely bred mare.
P2P.ie Review: This debut winning son of Getaway comes here with all the right credentials. He is a fine individual and out of a Presenting mare which is further positive in relation to his likely future success. He locked into battle with Prends Garde A Toi trained by Colin Bowe and the pair drew a massive thirty lengths clear of their rivals showing the class the two have. Ultimately this fellow had the most to offer and came out a convincing two length winner in a race which seems to have attracted two top youngsters. A very smart sort to look forward to for the future.
P2P.ie Review: This recruit from the Donnchadh Doyle stable created a favourable impression when running out an impressive 12 length winner of his maiden at Ballynoe. He showed a lot to like on his debut, in particular to manner in which he picked up when asked approaching the straight. He stormed clear of his rivals and in a matter of strides had to put the race to bed. This son of Kitkou has nice mix of speed and stamina with a willing attitude which will aide him when embarking on his career under rules. The race was run in a time twelve seconds faster than the average time on the day.
P2P.ie Review: This son of Affinisea was most unfortunate on debut when exiting at the first in Lingstown so was effectively making his debut at Castletown in April. He ran a cracker finishing a fine second to the Gordon Elliott trained and indeed highly regarded Trim Castle. This fellow improved as the race progressed and stayed on very strongly all the way to the line. It was a performance that could only be considered eyetcatching as he gave every indication that there was more and better to come. Whilst he displayed admirable stamina he has a lot of speed and toughness on the page to suggest he will be a versatile sort.
P2P.ie Review: Dromlac Jury was running a very big race on her debut at Monksgrange before coming down at the last. The daughter had made smooth progress to join the leader at the last but crumbled on landing whilst still holding every chance. The well bred sort is out of a half sister to dual Grade 1 winner Death Duty. She looks a decent sort, that has bright future ahead of her.
P2P Review: This imposing good-looking gelding was the pick of the paddock before his eye catching winning debut run at Maismore in Gloucestershire. The race was stuffed with quality, the majority of the point-to-point sales producers represented. Galloping resolutely and jumping well in the main, albeit with a couple of novicey errors, he threw in a good leap four out and travelled strongly to take the lead, held rivals at bay on the home turn and with clean jumps at the final two fences galloped to a debut win despite idling on the run-in. He was well worth more than the official verdict. It is noticeable that the race was the quickest time of the day for 2 mile 5f contests. A measure of the quality of the race and this impressive horse with potentially a huge future is the fact that he has been allocated the highest rating for a 4 year old pointer in England. He is the first foal of his unraced dam who was half-sister to high class chaser Last Instalment a multiple GR1 winner over fences.
P2P.ie Review: A most impressive debut winner of her maiden at Lisronagh. This daughter of Milan is out of a winning mare and is a sister to Crosshill. She set off with intent to make all the running and a short price suggested there was any amount of confidence from connections. This confidence was well founded as she came home a very comfortable six lengths clear of a vastly more experienced runner up who has been second on her previous start. This seems the beginning of a successful career where she looks well equipped to make the progression to a much higher level in due course.
P2P Review: Still in second gear when falling four fences from the finish at Garthorpe in February when making his racing debut, this youngster made no such mistake next time out. Tackling a maiden race for four- and five-year-olds at Brafield-On-The-Green in Northamptonshire he tracked his six rivals for a mile and a half, gradually passed backmarkers and then showed a lovely turn of foot to pick up the leaders on the home turn. At the penultimate fence he jumped into the lead and a good leap at the final jump enabled him to cruise home by seven lengths. The placed horses came from leading yards and had shown some ability in previous races. Nene River, who is a half-brother to the useful hurdler/chaser Omar Maretti, joined his current yard after changing hands for €42,000 at Goffs Land Rover Sale (now Arkle Sale). His dam, who was placed in bumper and hurdle races, was a half-sister to three winners and to the unraced dam of top-class chaser God’s Own.
P2P Review: This four-year-old from Britain’s leading point-to-point made a winning debut in an eight-runner, two-and-a-half mile maiden race at Eyton-on-Severn in Shropshire on Monday. Ridden by top amateur Jack Andrews he tracked by six lengths a pair of early pacesetters until a good jump six out saw him close the gap. Three fences from the finish he jumped into the lead, and although making a minor error at the second-last it did not check his stride and he eased home by a widening margin for an emphatic victory. His time was four seconds quicker than that of the mare who won the mixed open race carrying 9lb less. A £30,000 store purchased at Goffs UK’s Spring Sale, Wicked Thoughts has become the third winner for his dam. His full-brother Duke Of Luckley has won over hurdles and fences and there are two black-type earners under the second dam. This is the family of Mercy Rimell’s famous broodmare Artiste Gaye, dam of Champion Hurdle winner Gaye Brief.
P2P.ie Review: This son of Walk In The Park was noted by many judges when coming to grief alongside the highly regarded Workahead at Cragmore two from home. Nonetheworse from his exertions he reappeared at Lisronagh where he gained his reward. Battling with another son of Walk In The Park in Beau Walking the pair drew clear from their rivals and came home in a time which was quite notably thirteen seconds faster than the average time on the day. It was a huge performance from both and this winner showed his ability to come out on top in a tight battle and must be credited for that approach to a test. He is out of a sister to Galway Plate winner Ballyholland.
P2P.ie Review: A smashing and sharp youngster who is out of a sister to More Of That and looks a very speedy type. It was clear turning for home at Dromahane that this fellow had the gears to outclass his rivals and was going best until a mistake two out. He was headed before the last before being left with the advantage where he was slightly hampered but still managed to come away with the victory. This success was no surprise as he had been a fine third on debut at Lisronagh to the highly regarded Bill Joyce who was sold for 225,0000. This fellow has the speed to drop right back in trip and could be a real bumper and hurdle type before moving to chasing over the shorter distances.

Holds an entry in the €100,000 Goffs Defender Bumper 2m 1/2f at Punchestown, 25 April.
P2P.ie Review: This son of Walk In The Park made a very pleasing debut when only just beaten at Loughrea at the end of March. He caught the eye when travelling well into second after the third last, he chased home the winner all the way to the line and was only just beaten. He showed plenty to like on this occasion and it won’t be long before he sheds his maiden tag. This race was three seconds faster than the average on the day. It is also worth noting that the winner on the day was more experienced having finished third on his debut at Bellharbour behind Downmexicoway.
P2P.ie Review: A youngster who produced a performance from the top drawer at Dromahane. He was well in control of this maiden and still seemed to have any amount in the tank when a bizarre incident saw him exit at the last. While he didn’t seem to make a mistake at the final fence he jinked in jumping it and ejected his luckless rider. The ability had been well proven at this stage as he looked destined for an impressive success when this incident occurred. It is worth noting that the time of this race was twelve seconds faster than the average time on the day and yet that does not account for the time this fellow would have clocked had he stayed on his feet. An exciting addition to any catalogue.
P2P.ie Review: By Kingston Hill he is a brother to a winner and from the family of Dalkey Sound and Silver By Nature. He was second on debut behind Mossy Fen Park at Nenagh and that winner was since sold for 200,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham festival sale. He then went to Oldcastle where he chased home the beautifully well-bred Oak Grove who is out of a sister to Voler La Vodette and this had the looks of a run from the top drawer. It was clear he was doing his best work late and that suggests there is plenty more to come from this exciting and promising youngster.
