P2P.ie comment: It may have taken the De Rasher Counter six attempts to break his maiden tag but since the turn of the year, the Yeats gelding has really come into his own. Placed twice in five starts from May to December, the five-year-old produced a fine display to run out an eight-length winner of a five-year-old maiden at Borris House. The most experienced in the field, he put that experience to good use in the atrocious conditions which caught many of his rivals out. Always prominent, he battling away entering the home straight when his two challenging rivals both came a cropper at the second-last. To his credit, De Rasher Counter jumped well and ran all the way to the line having been left clear to register a deserved maiden success. Since that winning effort, the bay gelding has transferred that ability to the track as he put his experience to good use when winning a bumper at Clonmel recently under Roger Quinlan. De Rasher Counter looks a stronger horse this year and is likely to continue to progress under rules.
