P2P.ie comment: Special Prep made his debut in April of last year and ended the term with a fine placed finish in a four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Ballingarry. Four runs this season, the Brian Boru gelding has looked an improved sort, winning on his two latest starts. Trained by Willie Codd, the five-year-old shed his maiden tag at Stradbally in mid-April and further improved on that to win a winners of two by 15-lengths when last seen. Always prominent under Jamie Codd on that occasion, he led after five-out and bounded clear from two-out to win as he pleased. He showed a real liking for good ground conditions and scored with more in hand than even the 15-length winning margin suggests.
