P2P.ie comment: Fleminport was in the process of running a big race on debut until a mistake near the finish cost him any winning chance. It was a debut full of promise from the Flemensfirth gelding. Trained by Colin McKeever, the four-year-old again emerged with huge credit when staying on at the line to finish second at Broughshane in late April. Racing in mid-division throughout, he progressed into third before the final fence and was doing all his best work at the finish, beaten just over a length at the line. The race produced the fastest time of the day, eight seconds below the average at the Antrim track and Fleminport looked the obvious one to take from the three-mile event. From the family of Tumbling Dice, a three-time handicap hurdle winner for Tom Taaffe and who reached a high rating of 149 over fences, Fleminport looks a real stayer in the making.
