P2P.ie comment: The French bred Peterborough showed all the qualities needed in a smart horse, when making a winning debut in a four-year-old geldings' maiden at Curraghmore for Donnchadh Doyle. From the family of multiple French track winners, the Fuisse gelding showed good steel and determination to win out by a neck at the finish, beating a horse who had the benefit of a previous run. One of six newcomers in the eight runner field, Peterborough was waited with throughout under Rob James. Jumping well, he made smooth progress to hold a slight advantage approaching the second last. Doyle's charge faced a big test from here for one so inexperienced, but knuckled down after a good final fence jump to win by a narrow margin. This potential improver is sure to be another good seller from the Doyle string.
