The Westerner gelding showed the benefit of the experience he had gained in two runs earlier in the spring campaign when improving for a quicker ground earlier this month. Always close to the pace, he was headed by the eventual winner at the fourth-last, however to his credit, he never gave in and was always the closest pursuer to his conqueror over the course of the final mile. Having taken a clear step forward on his latest visit to the track, he is likely not far from getting off the mark.
