Review: A winner of two starts, this horse gained his maiden victory some months after the race following a positive-test disqualification of a rival who finished first past the post. Covid shutdowns of pointing made it impossible to give him another run until last month when he was sent to Trebudannon in Cornwall for a restricted race (winners of one). In a ten-runner contest marked by a stiff breeze that blew down the home straight, he overhauled the favourite with two to jump and ran out a ready winner by two lengths. The race-fit runner-up had been placed in a restricted race two weeks earlier on his first British start, having won a maiden point-to-point in Ireland. Kinondo Kwetu is a Goffs UK Doncaster Spring Store Sale graduate who has been well educated at one of Britain’s top point-to-point yards. A half-brother to two winners, he is the son of a mare who won in Germany and there are plenty of black-type winners on the Flat and over jumps under the second and third dams.
