P2P.ie Review: Gondor lost very little in defeat when only beaten a short head in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Necarne for Denis Murphy. The son of Ask was a promising fourth on his debut at Taylorstown, before reappearing a fortnight later under Jamie Codd. Settled in mid division, the bay made good progress through the field before coming to throw down a very strong challenge at the final fence. To his credit this nicely bred gelding battled on gamely in the closing stages, only to be beaten by the shortest of margins at the line. Going forward this likable type could well develop into a smart sort under rules.
