Patiently ridden around the sharp course, the son of Doyen began to take a particularly keen interest in the contest from the fourth-last obstacle from where he soon found himself at the head of affairs. Leading the field into the home straight, a loose horse did his best to put him off his task by running across his path and checking his momentum. This gave his rivals the opportunity to come back at him, but it was to his credit that he battled gamely when required to do so in order to regain the lead close home, with a more galloping track certain to see him in a more positive light.
