He soon made amends for that departure, as on the opening day of the season, he became the second subsequent maiden winner to emerge from that Tralee contest when winning a five and six-year-old geldings’ maiden at Toomebridge. With his rivals quickly dropping out of contention early in the back straight, the son of Gris De Gris soon only had one challenger and was getting the measure of him closing in on the final obstacle, to show that he handles testing conditions well, given that the three other finishers returned at long intervals.
