309. Rock On Rocco (IRE)

Monbeg Stables, Ireland (Cormac Doyle)
Purchaser
Roger Brookhouse
£55,000

Updates

P2P.ie Review: A well-bred €42,000 purchase, Rock On Rocco was certainly fancied to make a significant impact on his debut last March, when sent off as a joint-favourite at Liscaroll. The good-looking Shirocco gelding travelled strongly on the occasion, as he hit the front at one stage in the back straight, before tiring on the punishing climb into the home straight in what were very testing conditions. Unsurprisingly, the return from a summer’s break and the switch to a much sounder surface produced a very different result, as he held very strong claims coming to the last, ultimately finishing a close third, beaten by just over four lengths. Likeably, the front trio pulled a nice way clear of the next two finishers, who had been challenging coming to the last fence.
